uk/local/ealing/northolt/">Northolt Underground Station has now step-free access from street to train following the completion of a long-awaited project which makes places more accessible. A new lift and pedestrian bridge have both opened at the central railway station, and manual boarding ramps are now available to help passengers board and alight from trains.

Development to make Northolt station accessible commenced in February 2025, five years after construction was originally scheduled to begin before being halted due to the pandemic.

Transport for London(TfL) verified that the work had been done on the agreed schedule. Two accessible toilets are now open, as stated by TfL, although the installation of some baby- changing facilities is yet to be completed.

Both Northolt and Surrey Quays now have step-free access. This brings the total number of step-free Tube stations to 95.

Stuart Harvey, TfL’s chief capital officer, stated:

“Making the capital’s transport network more accessible is a key priority for us, and I’m delighted that Northolt and Surrey Quays stations are now step-free.”

Councillor Dominic Moffitt, Ealing Council’s cabinet member for climate action, stated:

” The completion of step-free access at Northolt station is fantastic news for our residents and a major step forward for accessibility in the borough.”

” This change will open up the Tube network to more residents, including disabled people, older people, parents with buggies and anyone who finds stairs a barrier to travel.”
