It is clear that the Blues have suffered a significant setback before the West London Derby. Chelsea have had almost a week to consider their disappointing home draw with Hull and are now turning their attention to uk/local/hounslow/brentford/">Brentford.
The Blues are heading to the Gtech Community Stadium on Friday night after dropping points in their last two Premier League Games. Chelsea suffered their only defeat of the season is a 2-1 loss to Arsenal. They then followed this up with a 2-2 draw against freshly-promoted Hull, with the concern-being that Xabi Alonso’s side took an early lead in both games.
Facing an unbeaten Brentford side who triumphed 3-0 against Tottenham on the opening weekend of the campaign, Chelsea must be strong defensively, although Moises Caicedo’s availability is uncertain.
Joao Pedro
Joao Pedro ist definitely going to miss out against Brentford. The Brazil Football Federation has stated that he has been sidelined from the national team squad due to injury.
A statement clearly states:
” Fluminense athlete Martinelli was called up on Wednesday, September 16, by coach Carlo Ancelotti for the Brazil National Team’s friendlies against Australia and India in the upcoming FIFA International window.
” The player will replace Chelsea striker Joao Pedro, who is injured.”
Expected return date: Uncertain
Moises Caicedo
The Chelsea midfielder was back on the matchday roster for the game against his old club Brighton. He had missed the opening day win over Fulham and Carabao Cup second round victory at home to Luton Town.
Caicedo came on in the second half, just after Joao Pedro’s unfortunate mistake goal had reduced the Blues’ lead to one goal.
However, the No.25 from Chelsea was unable to continue after just 14 minutes, having to be substituted for Valentin Barco, another former Brighton player.
