In uk/local/ealing/northolt/">Northolt primary school – aged children at two schools will have right to obtain free breakfasts and 30 minutes of childcare before lessons start at schools in the Autumn 2026 term.

Free breakfast service will start to be given from this week to children at Viking Primary School in Radcliffe Way and primary pupils will join Alec Feed Academy in Bengarth Road.

The clubs will offer breakfast before lessons to all pupils from Reception to Year 6, disregarding family income. Pupils in nursery and secondary school are not allowed.

Both schools are taking part in the Free Breakfast Club Programme and it is a governmental initiative. It is planning to run in 1400 schools across England this term. This programme inclusive for 196 schools in London.

The Mayor of London’s universal primary free school meals programme already provides free lunches to primary school children across the capital, and the breakfast will be included in these.

With the participation of Viking and Alec Reed, the number of Ealing schools joining in the breakfast programme will increase to five alongside Acton Gardens Primary School, Wolf Fields Primary School and Three Bridges Primary School.

A London Labour Party spokesperson said:

” Breakfast should never depend on how much money is left in a parent’s bank account at the end of the month.”

The government calculates that families who use a club each school day could save up to £450 per child, while receiving approximately 95 hours of childcare throughout an academic year.
